HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST HUMIDITY DISEASES

Honeysuckle diseases and control

Honeysuckle (Edible Blue) has been growing for about 20 years. I find this culture unpretentious. Nevertheless, the number of pests increases on the honeysuckle and the diseases also attack. The problem is often solved by framing. It is also a great way to rejuvenate your plants. But sometimes it is impossible to do without “chemistry”.

Here are just a few examples of honeysuckle suffering.

Honeysuckle true mildew.

A whitish bloom on the leaves appears more frequently in wet years. To fight, I sprinkle the crown with a solution of soda ash once a week (2 tablespoons per 10 liters of water, add 40 g of soap shavings). With a strong development of the disease, Topaz will help (according to the instructions), but only after harvesting.

Mottled honeysuckle leaves.

Light accents and spots appear on the leaves. One of the reasons is soil nematodes. I cut off badly damaged parts of the shoots. At the first signs of the disease, I spray the crowns with Epin, you can also feed the plant with potash fertilizer (after harvest). Severely affected honeysuckle uprooted a few years ago. The seedling from the school was transplanted to an abandoned place. That was my mistake – now the plant also suffers from spots.

Twisted leaves.

One of the reasons is the honeysuckle tick, which often destroys bushes that are thickened or in the shade. By distributing the pest mass, he processed the crown after harvest with an insecticide (Confidor, Actellik, Rogor-S) or a contact acaricide (Omayt, Mauritius).

Shrinking honeysuckles.

Branches can dry out due to damage to the roots when loosening the soil under the bush or due to freezing in winter (I cut dead wood by grabbing live wood). Another possible cause is a fungal disease similar to cherry moniliosis (the fungus penetrates through any damage). When the disease hit my old bush, I cut the damaged branches and processed the crown after harvesting and in early spring with a copper-containing preparation (Bordeaux liquid (100 g per 10 liters of water), Oksikhom, KhOM). If there are brown spots on the drying leaves, use Fundazole.
